Well my bird venture started several years ago back around 1993 my mother bought a cockatiel from a guy in Lumber Bridge, NC. His name is Almond Hopkins. He has become quite the legend on big beautiful cockatiels. Although he is retired now; I remember going to his place and watching his wife feed young cockatiel babies. I remember buying a few cockatiels from him although I really can't remember what it was. I do remember what the first bird was that mom had bought from him; it was a cinnamon pearl pied hen. Her name was "Smokey". I have one that looks just like her now. I will post some pictures in the "My Cockatiel" section. Any way after that I think I fell in love with cockatiels! In 1998 I had over a hundred of them. I had either purchased them From Mr. Hopkins or I had bred them my self. I kept them in an outside aviary. One day I was looking out into my backyard and saw one of my Dalmatians playing with something in its mouth. It looked like a little red ball. It wasn't. It was one of my cockatiels. They had broken into my aviary and killed all of my birds. I was so broken hearted. I swore I would never own another bird again. Well that has since changed. A few months ago some folks over in Wadesboro, NC posted on a website that my wife and I moderate, that they had some birds that they were going to give away because their doctor said that there brand new baby had developed bird allergies. We sent them a message letting them know that we were interested in them. After i got them to my home in Ellerbe, NC; my daughter Kylie and I decided that we wanted to build them a mating box.. Kylie is nine. She was so excited. We built it and a week later they were laying eggs. I now have three babies from them and they are sitting on eggs again. I also purchased the two birds that you see on my home page from K & L Aviary.  I am just so excited to be back in the world of birds because they are exciting and energized. Anyway I hope you enjoy my site and I will see you at the shows.

This is Me Ernest...Hello!                                        Me again with the babies!
